EXIT US READING DAY 31
BIBLE READING PLAN
EASTER!
He is Risen! In our last reading of the Exit Us Reading Plan, we read about Jesus’ resurrection.
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” 8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.
Reading 2: 1 Corinthians 15:50-5850 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Reflection: He is risen! Today, millions of Christians around the world will celebrate together that Jesus is alive! For those who trust in Jesus, His resurrection is proof that we will also rise one day. Paul says, “in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye…the dead will be raised imperishable” (1 Cor 15:52-53). There will come a day where the perishable will be imperishable; the mortal, immortal and death will die. “Therefore…let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord.” This Easter, let’s celebrate the resurrection and persevere in the mission our living Lord has called us to.- How does the fact of the resurrection help you persevere in the mission God has called you to do?
- Thank God for the good news of the resurrection and pray that people would have ears to hear the gospel in the Easter services happening today.
