Mark Reading Plan – W5D3
Week 5 | Day 3 | Mark 5:21-24
Pray
As you come to the reading today, write down all the things that are troubling you, giving them to God. Then ask God to open your eyes and your ears to his Word.
Bible Reading (read these verses three times slowly)
When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” So Jesus went with him.
Reflection & Questions
IJairus was a man who had it all together. He was religious. He was successful. He was highly involved in church (synagogue). But when his daughter was dying, this brought him to his knees. But, it was before Jesus that he kneeled. “Please come…” is his desperate prayer. And to his relief, “Jesus went with him.” That is Jesus’ promise to all his followers. Wherever you go today, he promises “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20) and he will never leave us (Hebrews 13:5-6). His answers to our prayers might be different to our plan, but we can be confident that whatever darkness we walk through, He is with us every step of the way.
- Do you believe Jesus is with you? Why or why not?
- What do you need to bring before Jesus today?
Pray
Thank God that He is with you no matter what you face today, and talk to him about your needs.
Worship Song
As a way of declaring your trust in Jesus no matter what you face today, you could use this song:

Reflection and Questions
Jairus was a man who had everything. He was religious. He was successful. He was super involved in church (which was called a synagogue). But when his daughter was sick and dying, he knew that he didn’t have the power to save her. So Jairus, the man who THOUGHT he had everything, went to Jesus to ask for help. “Please come help…” is what Jairus prayed for help. And to his relief, “Jesus went with him.” That is Jesus’ promise to everyone who follows Him. Wherever you go today, he promises that He is always with you, and He will never leave us . Have you ever met someone who just seemed to have it all together? Chances are they actually don’t but they put up a good image of themselves and it’s easy to feel “less than” when you compare your life to theirs. Jairus was a man who had it all together. He was religious. He was successful. He was highly involved in church (synagogue). But when his daughter was dying, this brought him to his knees.
