Mark Reading Plan – W7D5
Week 7 | Day 5 | Colossians 1:15-20
Pray
Pause and breathe for a minute. Then ask God to open your eyes and your ears to his Word
Bible Reading (read these verses three times slowly)
Yesterday we finished Mark chapter 7, so today we read about Jesus from another book of the Bible (Colossians 1:15-20)
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Reflection & Questions
Yesterday we read that the people said that Jesus did all things well. As we pause in our reading of Mark today, we get a deeper understanding of who Jesus is and what He does.
Notice what Paul says of Jesus here in Colossians:
- He is the image of God. If you want to see what God is like, look at Jesus!
- He created all things. Jesus is all-powerful!
- He holds it all together. From planets spinning, to our cells sticking together – it’s Jesus at work.
- He’s the leader of the Church. And the Church (all believers) is the most important group in the world – because it’s His.
- He is the only way to be reconciled with God. He is the one tasked with reconciling us sinners with God.
Jesus is incredible! Don’t miss in these verses how Paul emphasizes Jesus’ superiority through words like “all” and “everything”. You might even highlight those words in your own Bible.
Bottom line: If we believe those things about Jesus, then we can certainly trust Him with our lives to hold us together.
- Which one of the aspects of Jesus’ superiority sticks out to you today? Why?
- Where are you not trusting Jesus right now? Why? Does reading today help you trust Him more?
Pray
Come before Jesus today with your worries and fears, knowing He holds all things together and He does all things well.

Reflection and Questions
Yesterday we read that the people said that Jesus did all things well. As we pause in our reading of Mark today, we get a better understanding of who Jesus is and what He does.
This passage is from a man named Paul, who wrote about Jesus in the book of Collossians. In this passage, this is what we learn about Jesus:
- He is the image of God. If you want to see what God is like, look at Jesus!
- He created all things. Jesus was there at the beginning of it all!
- He holds everything together. From planets spinning, to our cells sticking together – it’s Jesus at work.
- He’s the leader of the Church. And the Church (everyone who believes in Jesus) is the most important group in the world – because it’s His.
- He is the only way to be connected with God. Jesus’ sacrifice forgives us of our sins so that we can be connected to God!
Jesus is incredible! It can be sort of hard to get just how amazing and important and loving that Jesus is, but when we read the Bible we can start to get a better idea of all of that, and more!
Bottom line: If we believe those things about Jesus, then we can certainly trust Him with our lives.
- Do you trust in Jesus? Did any of the reading today help you trust Jesus even more?
Prayer
Pray to Jesus and thank Him for being so amazing, and STILL loving us as much as He does.
