Bible Reading (read these verses three times slowly)
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.
“Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”
Reflection & Questions
The world has grown comfortable with itself and that is scary. Where are those seeking truth? Where are those seeking God? In the vast array of TV shows and entertainment, there is plenty to lull everyone into a comatose state regarding the realities of God and eternity.
For believers, however, this must not be. We must be “on watch”, “on guard”, and “alert”. You must not “let him find you sleeping.” We are to resist the temptation to be comfortable and sleepy in this world. We are to be on point, ready, expectant, watchful. We are to be in tune to God, His Word, His church, and His reality. We know the Owner is returning, and we want to hear Him say, “well done good and faithful servant.”
Pray
Ask God to show you any areas of your faith that are sleepy; ask Him for the grace to stay alert and ready in a world of comfort.

Reflection and Questions
Just like we talked about yesterday, Jesus is telling us that one day, there will be a time where Jesus will come back, and change our world forever. When that day comes, it’s going to be SO great! No more bad things, only good things, forever! But there IS one thing that we need to know – do you know what that is?
What we need to know is that this new world, this perfect heaven on Earth, is something that we only get if we want it. And I know what you might be thinking, ‘who WOULDN’T want to live in the new perfect world??’ Well, Jesus tells us that the ones who will get to live there are 1: The ones who follow Jesus with their life, and 2: The ones who live every day like they are ready for the new world to come! Jesus is telling us to make sure we are living a life that focuses on loving Jesus, and living how He wants us to live. Are you living like Jesus asks you to? And do you love Jesus? Yes? Then you’re ready for the new world!
Prayer
Pray to God and ask Him to help you live a life that focuses on Jesus more than anything.

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Stay on your toes!” ? Think about what that feels like: you shift your weight from your heels to the balls of your feet and toes and now you are ready to jump into action. Today’s reading is all about that!
