Pray for ONE Reading Plan | Week 1 | Day 4
Prayer
Take a moment to be silent and still. In order to be fully present in body and mind, take a deep breath in and let it out slowly. Do this three times. Ask God to give you His eyes to see people as He sees them.
Bible Reading: Romans 10:1
Read these verses three times slowly.
Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.
Reflection & Questions
In today’s verse, the Apostle Paul is expressing to his readers his love for his fellow Israelites. They are his people and it wrecks him that they aren’t following Jesus. They aren’t a project to him – they are real people that he loves and longs that they would be saved. Now keep in mind, many of the Jews are his chief opponents in spreading the gospel. They have kicked him out of towns, stoned him and made false accusations. But still, Paul sees beyond that. His “heart’s desire and prayer” is that they would be saved.
Who is that for you? Who do you wish would come to know Jesus or return to Him? Who do you grieve for and can’t help but cry out to God for? That is your ONE or one or one of your ONEs! Now that you’ve identified your ONE, pray for them. Allow your heart to pour out to God for them. To ask God for their salvation. To ask for opportunities to talk to them about God or to invite them to church. You might even ask them how you can pray for them. You might commit to praying everyday for them. You’ll be amazed at what God will do as you pray!
- Who is your ONE? How do we avoid our ONEs becoming a ‘project’?
- What commitment will you make to pray for your ONE?
