Unashamed Reading Plan | Week 10 | Day 3
Prayer
Take a moment to be silent and still. In order to be fully present in body and mind, take a deep breath in and let it out slowly. Do this three times. Pray that God would open your eyes to wonderful things from His word today.
Bible Reading: Romans 8:35-39
Read these verses three times slowly.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Reflection & Questions
It’s our third reading of the week and Paul is still asking rhetorical questions! Today’s questions are perhaps the pinnacle, for it gets at the core of what Paul is talking about. That we are loved. Deeply. Truly. And Inseparably loved. This is his question: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” The answer is nothing. “Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” The answer is no! Sure we will face suffering in this life, but that NEVER means God has abandoned us or withdrawn his love. God will never leave us or forsake us. No matter what it seems like, nothing will separate us from His love.
In fact, Paul says, “in all these things we are more than conquerors.” What does that mean? To be a conqueror makes sense. We overcome the suffering and the evil – we will outlast it and be with Jesus forever. To be “more than conquerors” means something more than that though. It means that even the suffering and evil will not only be conquered, but it will turn around and make our glory that much more better. We won’t just survive our trials, but those trials will make our joy even greater in the end.
- What word or phrase sticks out to you from today’s verses? Why?
- Have you felt that something has separated you from the love of God? Why? How does today verses help you?
Prayer
Talk to God in response to today’s reading.
Worship Song
You might use this song today to worship Jesus today:

Reflection & Questions
There is one big question for today: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?”
And one big answer: NO ONE!
There is a list of things that CANNOT separate us from this big love that God has for us.
We might have some troubles or we might be persecuted and made fun of, but neither of those can separate us from God loving us.
If there is a time when you feel like you have nothing (famine) or feel like all of your weakness are exposed for everyone to see (nakedness) or danger surrounds you or you are being pierced in your heart by someone’s hurtful words (like with a sword) – God is still there loving you!
But that’s not all! Neither death nor life, nor angels or demons (the things we cannot see), nor the present nor the future (it doesn’t matter when it happens), nor any powers (even the biggest, most powerful people!), and neither height nor depth (where is the highest place and the deepest place you can think of?) nor ANYTHING ELSE in all of creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
BONUS: we are MORE than conquerors of all of these things with Jesus on our side! That’s right. Not only are we not separated from God’s love, but He has made us winners over all of these big and powerful things!
- How does it make you feel to know that the love that God has for you can NEVER be taken away?!
Pray
Thank God for having such a big love that you can never be separated from it. And then thank Him also for making you a conqueror!
