Acts Reading Plan | Week 3 | Day 4

Prayer

Psalm 42:2 says, “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” If you are thirsty for more of Him this morning, tell Him and ask Him to open your heart to more of Him. If you’re not thirsty, tell Him, and ask Him to remind you of His goodness.

Bible Reading: Acts 3:22-26

Read these verses three times slowly.

For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.’

“Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days. And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’ When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

Reflection & Questions

As Peter talks to the Jewish people, he reminds them of their history. That what they are hearing about Jesus isn’t a new thing. It’s not a replacement of what they’ve been taught. It’s a fulfillment. He says “all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days.” How amazing it would be for the people to think that everything they had read about and hoped for, was being fulfilled in their lifetime. The prophecy to Abraham, the father of the Jewish faith – was being fulfiled right now!

Our faith isn’t a new faith. It’s an ancient faith. When Jesus came on the scene as a baby it wasn’t the beginning. It was the next step in the plan. God has carried out His plan faithfully every step of the way, and so we can trust that what He says about the future will be fulfilled, too. We can trust Him with everything – our lives, our futures, our eternities – he has showed Himself faithful and true from the very beginning of time.

      1. What are you having a hard time trusting God with right now?
      2. What difference does it make that our faith is an ancient faith that goes back to the very beginning?

Prayer

Talk to God about your needs and worries. Ask Him to replace those things with His peace, and to guide you by His Holy Spirit.
