Grab a Fork Reading Plan | Week 1 | Day 5

Prayer

Pause. You get to spend time with your Maker now. Breathe a large breath in, and slowly breathe out. Allow your mind, heart and body to be fully present.

Psalm 119:18 says, “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” Make that your prayer today as you read God’s word.

Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 using the Paraphrase It Method

Today’s method definitely requires grabbing some paper and something to write with. The Paraphrase It method helps you to meditate on scripture by rewriting it in your own words. The only instruction is that as you rewrite it, don’t use the same words as are in the current translation (you may reuse simple words like “a” and “the”). Rewrite the following verses using the Paraphrase It method:

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Reflection & Questions

      1. As you rewrote the passage, were there words or phrases that particularly caught your attention? Why do you think?
      2. Were there words that were harder to rewrite? Why? Did you gain insight as you struggled to find a replacement?
      3. What is God’s invitation to you today in response to His word?

Prayer

Talk to God in response to the reading today.
