Grab a Fork Reading Plan | Week 3 | Day 2

Prayer

Take a moment to be silent and still. In order to be fully present in body and mind, take a deep breath in and let it out slowly. Do this three times.

In John 6:37 Jesus says, “whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” As you come to Jesus today, praise Him that whatever condition your heart is in, He welcomes you. He invites you to spend time with Him as you are, not as you think you should be.

Bible Reading: Hebrews 10:24-25

The Bible encourages us to be intentional in the way we encourage others, and an example of that is our scripture today: Hebrews 10:24-25. We’re going to use the Paraphrase It method to medidate on these verses. The Paraphrase It method helps you to meditate on scripture by rewriting it in your own words. The only instruction is that as you rewrite it, don’t use the same words as are in the current translation (you may reuse simple words like “and” and “the”). Go ahead and grab some paper and something to write with, then rewrite the following verses using the Paraphrase It method:

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Reflection & Questions

      1. As you rewrote the verses, were there words or phrases that particularly caught your attention? Why do you think?
      2. Were there words that were harder to rewrite? Why? Did you gain insight as you struggled to find a replacement?
      3. As you meditated on these verses, what did you learn about pouring your life into others around you? What is God inviting to you to do today?

Prayer

Think about who you are going to come across today, at home, work, school, or in your neighborhood. As people come to mind, pray for them, and ask God what they need and listen to Him. Ask Him to give you opportunities to encourage them.

Worship Song

You might use this song today to worship Jesus today:
