Grab a Fork Reading Plan | Week 3 | Day 3
Prayer
Take a moment to be silent and still. In order to be fully present in body and mind, take a deep breath in and let it out slowly. Do this three times.
John 14:26 says, “The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” Thank God as you come to meet with Him for the Holy Spirit, and ask the Spirit to teach you today.
Bible Reading: Proverbs 9:7-12
In today’s reading about mentoring, we are diving into Proverbs, which is a book of wisdom. In this section of Proverbs, the author has wisdom on influencing others. We are going to use the S.O.A.P. method again to meditate on it. Firstly, read the verses.
Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults;
whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.
Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you;
rebuke the wise and they will love you.
Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;
teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
For through wisdom your days will be many,
and years will be added to your life.
If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you;
if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.
Reflection & Questions
Use the S.O.A.P. method to meditate on the verses.
- S: Write down a phrase or sentence that strikes you from these verses.
- O: Write down an observation on the phrase or sentence. What does it mean? What does it teach?
- A: Write down an application. How does this apply to you?
- P: Finally, write down a prayer in response to the scripture.
Prayer
As we have been doing this week in our prayers, think about who you are going to come across today, at home, work, school, or in your neighborhood. As people come to mind, pray for them, and ask God what they need and listen to Him. Ask Him to give you opportunities to encourage them.
