FIVE WAYS TO DESCRIBE HIM
Lovingly loud, Engaging, Responsibly immature, Well-intentioned, and a Family man
WHAT HE DOES AT CROSSROADS
After 20 years in youth ministry at Crossroads, my role now focuses on Care and Missions… involving us caring for our church body, especially in crisis, and globally in missions to draw attention to Jesus. A staff pastor since 1988, I give leadership to additional pastoral care teams.
FAMILY
I married my high school sweetheart, Barkley, raising three daughters (Haylee, Erin, and Kaci), great son-in-laws (Jason, Zack and Beau), and 9 grandkids. We love movies, the water, international soccer, music and hanging out.
COLLEGE YEARS
This was where life came together for me…While pursuing a degree in accounting, the lifelong athlete in me met the reality of hanging up the cleats and found a life-changing faith in Jesus. I finished the degree at Cal Poly Pomona, certain that I was called to ministry. My couple years of campus life with Campus Crusade for Christ showed me the simplicity of talking to people about Jesus and investing in those who turn to Him. I entered Talbot (part of Biola University) for an MDiv degree and spent much of the three years after that graduation looking for the right fit…and found it at Crossroads.
WHAT MAKES HIM LAUGH
Almost anything! The comic strip “Zits” (still), years of memories with the Crossroads’ student ministry workers, and good puns.
WHAT HE’S PASSIONATE ABOUT
Jim is passionate about reaching the unreached, near or far, influencing his community and family. He wants to do life to the fullest and have fun doing it. He bleeds Dodger Blue, loves The Voice and good coffee, and can chat with any total stranger.
