Bible Reading (read these verses three times slowly)
People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
Reflection & Questions
Jesus loved taking those who were outcast and devalued and putting them right in the center, displaying their true value. Today, the disciples thought Jesus didn’t have time for children. In fact, Jesus had all the time in the world for them. The people he didn’t have time for? Those who kept children away! (P.S. This is why we LOVE our Next Gen ministries at Crossroads – if you want to get involved find out more here).
Jesus says we should learn from children and become like children in our relationship with Him! Children are confident in their parent’s love and affection, they delight in what their parents delight in, and they learn from their parents’ wisdom and ways. What an amazing picture of what it looks like to be a Child of God!
- Is your relationship with God childlike? Does it involve confidence, delight, curiosity and learning? Why or why not?
- What is your attitude to the children you encounter? How can you elevate them like Jesus did?
Pray
Thank God that He welcomes us to be His children!

Reflection and Questions
Jesus loved taking those who were outcast and seen as less important, and putting them right in the center, showing everyone how valuable they really are. Today, the disciples thought Jesus didn’t have time for children. In fact, Jesus had all the time in the world for them. Who were the people he didn’t have time for? The ones who kept children away!
Jesus says that everyone should learn from children and become like children in our relationship with Jesus! Children are confident in their parent’s love and affection, they love what their parents love, and they learn from their parents’ wisdom and ways. What an amazing picture of what it looks like to be a Child of God! Are you a child? Is that how you feel about your parents? Do you feel the same way about God? Because Jesus thinks that your parents could learn a thing or two from you, and He’s right!
- What does it mean to love God like we love a parent?
Prayer

Adults: sheesh! Always trying to ruin a kid’s fun. But Jesus turned the adults right around so that they could see the children how he saw them.
