Bible Reading (read these verses three times slowly)
“At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.
“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Reflection & Questions
What will be the final, ultimate sign that the end has come? Jesus will descend from the heavens, “coming in clouds with great power and glory.” Unlike HIs first coming, which was almost unnoticeable, this one will be known by everyone. And unlike His first coming, which was to offer entrance to the Kingdom, this one will be to gather His children and close the door.
What does He mean by “this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened”? It would seem that “this generation” refers to the generation alive when the end begins. And that they will be living when “all these things have happened”, shows that it will all happen very quickly. Within a generation.
So after the generations of waiting, God will wrap things up very quickly. And for the years of suffering, of heartbreak, of longing, there will be an end. Jesus will gather us, wipe away every tear and we will live with Him forever.
Pray
Ask God for strength for today, and thank Him that there is a day to look forward to where there will no longer be sin, sadness, sickness or Satan!

Reflection and Questions
We’ve been talking about the end of the world a lot this week. But let’s be honest, how will we ACTUALLY know that the end of the world is coming? Well, Jesus makes it clear – the end of the world will come when we all see Jesus coming down from the clouds with great power and glory. What a cool thing to see, isn’t it??
When you hear that there will be an ‘end of the world’, do you think it sounds scary? Depending on what movie you’ve been watching lately, it might seem super scary to think that the world will end! But Jesus tells us that the end of the world isn’t something we need to be scared of, it’s something that will be amazing! Jesus is going to come down from Heaven with His army of angels, and they’ll take all of the believers in Jesus up to Heaven. How cool is that?? The end of the world sure will change things, but trust me (well really, trust Jesus), it’s going to change things only for the better.
Prayer
Ask God for strength for today, and thank Him that there is a day to look forward to where there will no longer be sin, sadness, sickness, or anything else bad!

When Jesus came to earth the first time, his people (and now us as well) celebrated, grateful for the baby that would give us the gift of salvation. But his second coming will look much different!
