Week 4 | Day 2 | Mark 4:21-25
Check out all the previous readings here.
Pray
Thank God for something in your life and ask Him to speak to you through your reading and reflection today.
Bible Reading (read these verses three times slowly)
He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.”
“Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”
Reflection & Questions
In today’s verses, as He often did, Jesus asks his listeners a rhetorical question: “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed?” Of course not. But what is He getting at? What does He mean by, “what is hidden is meant to be disclosed?”
The clue is in His phrase, “If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.” Tying back into yesterday’s parable, some ears are ready to hear and respond to the gospel, but not to all. And those who receive it, they aren’t to hide it, they are to tell others! The message is a light to light up a dark world. It’s a message of hope that people need to hear.
- Are you covering up your light or sharing it? How do you know?
- Who is someone in your life who needs to hear the gospel?
- If you’re not sure how to share the gospel this article gives you a simple way to share it using just one verse.
Pray
Pray for the ONE you are trying to reach with the gospel.
Worship Song
The light we receive is the light of Jesus. You could use this song to worship Him today:

Reflection and Questions
In today’s verses, as He often did, Jesus asks his listeners a question: “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed?” Of course not! But why is He even talking about a lamp? What does He mean by, “what is hidden is meant to be disclosed?”
Jesus actually gives us a clue to what He means in His phrase, “If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.” Do you remember what we read about yesterday? Where Jesus said that there are different ways that people read the Bible? Well, just like yesterday’s reading, Jesus is saying that some ears are ready to hear and respond to Jesus’ message, but not everyone. And those who DO listen to it, they aren’t supposed to hide it, they should be telling everyone! The message of Jesus and His love for us is like a light that lights up a dark world. It’s a message of hope that people need to hear!
- Are you covering up your light or sharing it? (Are you telling people about Jesus?)
- Who is one person that you can tell about Jesus today? Make a plan to tell them today!
Prayer
Pray for your ONE (the person you want to share Jesus with), and pray that you can share Jesus with them today.

Gotta love Jesus stating the obvious here: If you have ears (pretty much every human), pay attention to what I’m telling you! In today’s verses, as He often did, Jesus asks his listeners a rhetorical question: “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed?” Of course not. But what is He getting at?
