Bible Reading (read these verses three times slowly)
And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
“You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ”
But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
Reflection & Questions
Just one touch. That’s all it took. After years of suffering. After draining bank accounts. After exhausting the best minds of the day. She reached out, touched Jesus’ clothes and instantly she was healed. That’s the power of Jesus at work!
Jesus wanted to know who touched him. He surely knew, but wanted her to reveal it.
Perhaps she was used to hiding herself because of her condition, and Jesus wanted her to no longer be ashamed. Whatever the reason, on her revealing her identity, Jesus declares, “Your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” Jesus wants her to know she is fully healed, and she can walk in peace.
While we may not be physically healed in this life, when we place our faith in Jesus, he immediately cleanses us of our sin and we can walk in peace knowing we are right with Him. And while we face trouble in this life, one day we will be with him, completely healed and completely at peace forever.
- Think about the pain, suffering, doubt and fear this woman faced in the twelve years of suffering. Would you still have the faith to reach out and touch Jesus after those twelve years? How would you know?
- Where do you need to have perseverance like this woman?
Pray
Ask God to help you persevere in things you are facing right now.

Reflection and Questions
How cool is what just happened in that story? Just one touch. That’s all it took. After years of being in pain. After so many doctors visits and no one knowing what was going on. After asking everyone that she could find for help. She reached out, touched Jesus’ clothes and instantly she was healed. That’s the power of Jesus!
Jesus wanted to know who touched him. But, let’s be honest, Jesus knew who touched Him. He just wanted the woman to admit it was her. Why do you think He did that?
Maybe she was used to hiding herself because of her sickness, and Jesus wanted her to no longer be embarrassed. No matter what the reason was, after she said that it was her who touched Him, Jesus says, “Your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” Jesus wants her to know she is fully healed, and she can walk in peace.
When we place our faith in Jesus, He immediately forgives us of our sins, and we can live in peace knowing we are with Jesus all of the time. And while we may have hard times in this life, one day we will be with Jesus, completely healed and completely at peace forever with Him in heaven.
- Has Jesus ever healed you from something, or helped you in a situation that you needed Him? What happened?
Prayer
Ask God to help you be strong in a hard situation you might be going through right now.
