Unstoppable Reading Plan | Week 1 | Day 4

Prayer

Take a moment to be silent and still. In order to be fully present in body and mind, take a deep breath in and let it out slowly. Do this three times. Ask God to give you His wisdom today.

Bible Reading: Romans 11:33

Read these verses three times slowly.

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!

Reflection & Questions

We’ve been reflecting on the ways God is unstoppable this week. We’ve seen He is unstoppable in life, love and power. Today, we see how he is unstoppable in wisdom.

Our verse today is a hinge point in the book of Romans. Paul has spent 11 chapters explaining the ways in which God has set up the world and dealt with our brokenness. The next four chapters (12-16) Paul will write about what all this means for our lives. But here at the end of chapter 11, Paul takes a breath to reflect on how amazing God’s wisdom is.

When Paul says God’s wisdom and knowledge has “depth” he is getting at the fact that it is inexhaustible. You can keep mining it forever. There will never be a point where it will run out. When Paul says God’s judgments are “unsearchable,” he means that God’s wisdom is so vast that we will never fully comprehend it. It is beyond our ability to grasp it. God’s wisdom is unstoppable.

This is truly an encouragement to us today. We might read the news and wonder cynically who can take the vast brokenness and mend it. Closer to home, we might wrestle with decisions that feel way above our pay grade. The good news is that whether it is a messed up world or a life-altering decision – he has more than enough smarts to take it on! God’s wisdom is unstoppable.

      1. Who is someone you know that has wisdom. How have they made an impact on your life? How could connecting more with the infinitely wise God make an impact on your life?
      2. How has God guided you in the past? Is there something you need His wisdom with right now? Talk to Him about it.
