John Reading Plan | Week 16, Day 5

Prayer

As you draw near to spend time with Jesus, quiet your mind and body until you feel completely present. Express your gratitude to Jesus for coming to save you!

Bible Reading: John 20:30-31

Read these verses three times slowly.

Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Reflection & Questions

We reach the end of a week of amazing readings. Jesus has risen from the dead! He appears to Mary, his disciples and to Thomas. The disciples’ lives are turned upside down (once again!) in all the best possible ways. But what we have read is not the extent of what Jesus showed them. John tells us that, “Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.” Jesus blew them away again and again and again with his power and wisdom.

John tells us that he has written this gospel so “that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” He wants our lives to be turned upside down in all the best possible ways, too. That we would believe. That we would live like the disciples did the day after the resurrection. Not in fear and cowering, but in peace and confidence in walking with Jesus, because we know He is King and He has given us eternal life!
