Mark Reading Plan – W8D4
Week 8 | Day 4 | Mark 8:22-26
Check out all the previous readings here.
Pray
Pause and breathe for a minute. Then ask God to open your eyes and your ears to his Word.
Bible Reading (read these verses three times slowly)
They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”
He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”
Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into the village.”
Reflection & Questions
Wait a second! Did Jesus just mess up? A little short-circuit in his healing powers? It took two times to give complete sight?! Well, at least He got there in the end!
In fact, that’s not what’s going on here at all. As Jesus often is, He’s teaching something here through a very tangible illustration. You see, just like this blind man starts to see people after the first touch, so the disciples are starting to see Jesus for who He is. But, also, just like the blind man doesn’t see everything right, so the disciples don’t see everything right about Jesus yet. We will see (ha!) more of this tomorrow. But for now, a lesson for us in this reading, is that while we might know some things about Jesus, we need to continue to grow, to continue to ask Him to teach us more about Himself, so we can see Him clearly and trust Him fully!
- Do you feel stalled in discovering more about Jesus? Why?
- What’s a step you could take to grow in knowing Jesus more? When will you take it?
Pray
In your prayer time today, ask Jesus to show you more of who He is.
Worship Song
In response to today’s reading, you could use this song to worship Jesus:

In fact, that’s not what’s going on here at all. As Jesus often is, He’s teaching something here through an illustration, or an example. You see, just like this blind man starts to see people after the first touch, the disciples are starting to see Jesus for who He really is – the Son of God. But, also, just like the blind man doesn’t see everything right, the disciples also don’t see everything right about Jesus yet. We will see (ha!) more of this tomorrow. But for now, a lesson for us in this reading, is that while we might know some things about Jesus, we need to continue to grow, to continue to ask Him to teach us more about Himself, so we can see Him clearly and trust Him fully!
