Mixtapes Reading | Week 1 | Day 2
Prayer
Allow some silence for your soul to catch up with your body. Thank God for time to spend with Him and ask Him to meet with you.
Bible Reading: Psalm 25:1-11
Read these verses three times slowly.
In you, Lord my God,
I put my trust.
I trust in you;
do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
who are treacherous without cause.
Show me your ways, Lord,
teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, Lord, are good.
Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful
toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.
For the sake of your name, Lord,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
Reflection & Questions
In our Mixtapes series this week we are looking at Psalms about growing in our faith. In Psalm 25, David is praying for the Lord to teach him. He prays, “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me.”
This is a prayer the Lord loves to answer. He is a loving heavenly Father who loves to show His children His ways. And what’s amazing about that is that we so often fall short of following Him, yet He still delights as a patient Parent to teach us. As David says, “Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.” He will not remember “the sins of [our] youth.” Though we so often fail, He is there ready to show us His ways.
The key though is our humility. “He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.” We need to be teachable and ready to change. We can’t just say “show me your ways”, but we must also be ready to follow them.
- What word or phrase sticks out to you today from this Psalm?
- Are you ready for the Lord to teach you? Why or why not? Talk to God about this.
