Pray for ONE Reading Plan | Week 4 | Day 2
Prayer
Allow some silence for your soul to catch up with your body. Ask God to open your eyes to wonderful things from His word.
Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:4-6
Read these verses three times slowly.
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
Reflection & Questions
This week in our readings we are looking at the journey’s our ONEs go through as they come to know Jesus. We are using the acronym HEART. Yesterday we saw that “H” is the beginning and it is praying that our ONEs would have receptive Hearts. Today, we look at “E”, and this is the prayer that their Eyes and Ears would be opened.
In 2 Corinthians, Paul shows us that there is a spiritual battle going on in our ONEs. He says, “the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel.” We might put our ONEs name into that verse:
The god of this age has blinded the mind of _______________ so they cannot see the light of the gospel.
But this is not the final word; there is hope. As Paul says, “For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” In other words, God can open Eyes and Ears to the gospel.
As we pray for our ONEs, yesterday we saw there’s a heart work to be done and today we see there’s a spiritual battle to be won. These truths can guide our prayers in powerful ways.
- Can you recall a time when you were blinded to the gospel? Who did God use to open your eyes?
- Have you noticed that your ONE is “blinded” to the gospel? How does today’s verses help fuel your prayers for them?
